What to expect from Formal, our new feature available for buddhify members
Formal is a whole new wheel within buddhify dedicated to deepening your formal meditation practice. Designed to help you grow your formal meditation skills, this wheel contains 18 new meditations presented as short training courses, based on the six core meditation techniques every deepening practitioner should know.
The Formal wheel has six different sections called Body, Concentration, Heart, Awareness, Inquiry, & Letting Go and each of those sections have four meditations each. Each set of four starts off with an existing Meditation 101 track and then has three progressively more longer and more advanced practices which build upon each other. Therefore Formal has 18 brand new meditations overall plus the six Meditation 101 tracks as starting points. The fourth meditation in each category lasts 45 minutes and all the formal practices are much more spacious than any other buddhify tracks. This means that there is much more silence within the practice to allow you to become more independent. All the new Formal meditations are written and voiced by buddhify creator Rohan Gunatillake.
The idea is to choose the techniques that you are most interested in exploring and over time work your way through the meditations to the point where you are comfortable doing the longest, most advanced meditation for those techniques, both with the guidance and ultimately by yourself. You might do this in two weeks, it might take you much longer. The time doesn’t matter, because like all of buddhify, it’s up to you to find your own way, not us.
Formal is one of three features available through Buddhify Membership. Becoming a member not only gains you access to these features but also supports our ongoing work as a values-led family business.
Part of buddhify Membership, Formal is a whole new wheel within the app. Designed to help you grow your formal meditation skills, this wheel contains 18 new meditations presented as short training courses, based on the six core meditation techniques every deepening practitioner should know. But why does Formal matter?
